Color Model - Refers to the component colors used in the image, such as RGB or CMYK. This is also called a Color Space or Color System.
Wide screen - A term given to picture displays with a wider aspect ratio than NTSC 4:3. Digital HDTV or SDTV is referred to as "16:9 wide screen." Most motion pictures also have a 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio. Most Digital TVs have a screen that is wider than it is tall (if a Digital TV screen is nine inches high, it's 16 inches wide.) When watching a show recorded in the wide screen format on a Digital TV, viewers see more of the movie, while when viewing wide screen format on an analog TV, cropped edges are evident.
Calibration - A process of setting digital imaging components to standardized settings that will produce accurate and predictable results in the output.
Fire Wire - A digital interface originated by Apple Computer that can transport data at 100, 200, or 400 Mbps. It is widely used to interconnect digital video devices, such as cameras and displays. Also referred to as IEEE- 1394.
Spatializer 3D Stereo - A stereo enhancement technology that creates an enveloping, "three-dimensional" surround sound listening experience from just two speakers.
Multi-ARAS CRT Coating - With Multi-ARAS CRT Coating, the flat, glass CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) faceplate is coated with layers of anti-reflective (AR) and anti-static (AS) compounds to minimize reflections and dust build-up on the TV screen.
Computer-to-Plate - A method of applying an image onto an offset printing plate. The image is transferred from a computer directly to the device that exposes the image onto the plate, bypassing the need for separations and film.
