Flying Erase Head - Erases unwanted material an instant before new, wanted video is edited over. Provides clean edits with no noise or rainbows.
Peak Search - Allows the widest dynamic range possible from music recorded on CDs. This feature scans the disc for the highest peak to optimize the recording level on a cassette deck, before recording begins.
Progressive Scanning - Some HD televisions use the "progressive" method of scanning, in which the whole picture is transmitted and presented on the screen in one pass. The resulting image is thus remarkably free of flicker and motion artefacts, appearing more "life-like". Some display types, such as LCD, plasma and DLP are inherently of the progressive scan type, while CRT's may be scanned progressively (as in computer monitors) or interlaced.
Set-top Converter Box - This unit sits on top of the viewer's analog TV, receives the Digital TV signal, converts it to an analog signal, and then sends that signal on to the analog TV.
SDTV Compatible - Televisions that are SDTV (Standard TV) compatible enable you to hook up digital component video inputs (Y, Pr, Pb) to the unit for viewing of standard definition programming broadcast in either 480i or 480p formats. In order to view SDTV programming, the TV must be connected to a digital TV set-up box and switched to DTV mode. A DTV signal must be present in your area and the set-up box must be tuned to the proper channel. An external over-the-air antenna may be required. If your cable company "passes through" a network DTV signal unchanged, a set-top box can decode and tune the program. However, standards for cable connectivity have not yet been finalized. Consequently, this product may not be compatible with your cable system.
Dye Sublimation (Diffusion Transfer) - A color printing technology that forms the image by delivering gaseous dyes to the receiver material with a thermal driver. This creates near photographic quality images.
Metadata - Informational data about the data, included in a signal's data stream.
