Depth of field - A measure of the area of an image that is in focus, measured as the depth from the focal point of the image.
STB - (Set Top Box) - These include satellite receivers, cable TV receivers, OTA receivers, and various recording devices.
E-text - Text in electronic format which can be read from a handheld computer
Buffer - Part of the computer's memory used for temporary storage of information. This becomes necessary to compensate for differences in speed that different devices can transmit or receive data.
Bandwidth - The range of frequencies used to transmit the television signal, including picture and sound. Analog television signals have been allocated at 6 Megahertz for each over-the-air channel. Digital channels are allocated the same 6 Megahertz by Industry Canada. However, by the use of digital compression, a combination of up to 5 SDTV programs and/or one HDTV program can be carried in this 6 MHz digital channel.
Commercial Skip - Returns your TV to your original channel at end of a countdown timer so you can channel surf through commercial breaks.
Aperture - The opening within a camera lens system that controls the brightness of the image striking the film. The size of the opening is indicated by the f/number.
