Pentaprism - The prism that sits on the top of most SLRs. The pentaprism transmits the light reflected upward by the camera's mirror into the camera's eyepiece.
Flat Picture Tube - Incredibly strong, flat glass screen minimizes distortion for pictures with advanced clarity and detail. Edges of the screen are flattened out giving the impression of a larger, better picture.
Watt (amplifiers) - A unit of measure for the output of an amplifier.
SmartMedia - A digital camera memory format currently used by some Olympus and Fuji cameras. These companies are using xD-Picture cards in their newer cameras, raising the possibility that the SmartMedia format is on the way out. SmartMedia cards are available in sizes up to 128MB.
Dolby Digital 5.1 - Also known as AC-3, it provides 6 channels of sound: left, center, right, left rear, right rear, and sub-woofer. It is also called "5.1 channels" since the 6th channel has reduced bandwidth. Dolby Digital 5.1 is the audio standard for all U.S. digital TV stations, most DVDs, some DBS programs, and many theaters.
Fade - Lets you smoothly fade out video and audio for clean scene transitions.
Backlight(ing) - Refers to an optional function in which the handheld display glows from behind for easier reading in the dark.
