Palette - The range of color or tone available in the imaging process, or a movable menu of tools or options found in software applications.
Blank Search Blank - Search fast forwards or rewinds to find the beginning of an unrecorded spot on the tape.
Bleed - Printing term referring to an image or inked area which extends to the edge of a printed piece. The bleed is the portion of the artwork that is beyond the trim marks of the piece. The bleed is required to account for any slight misalignment during trimming which would otherwise result in an unprinted strip of paper appearing at the edge of the finished piece.
Auto Programming (Tuner): - Automatically scans through the available channels and enters them into programming. It eliminates any channels that have no signal. Once Auto-Programming is complete the viewer can manually delete any unwanted channels.
DVD-RAM - A recorder which allows the user flexibility of starting to watch a program from the beginning as soon as they wish while still recording the end.
S-Video Input Jack - The 4-pin S-video input jack allows you to connect a DBS (Dolby Digital) system or DVD player directly to the luminance and chrominance circuits of the TV set. By keeping colour and luminance information separate, cross-colour interference is virtually eliminated from the picture.
Compression - A method of reducing the number of bits required to store or transmit programs by the removal of redundant and/or non-critical information in the digital picture and sound. The DTV broadcasting standard for Canada, uses the MPEG-2 video and the AC-3 audio compression coding. Compression allows the delivery of more programs in a single channel.
