Vectis - Minolta's brand name for their APS products.
Stylus - A pen writing device for the handheld computer. Used with touch-screens to initiate commands with the operating system and also to input data.
Archive - Storage of selected digital files for backup or long-term storage.
RAW - One of the image formats available on some advanced digital cameras. RAW images are large, usually uncompressed files that, unlike JPEGs, are not processed by the camera and retain all their original data. RAW images are ideal for those who plan on editing their pictures with image-editing software. RAW images may require special software to turn them into a more common format like TIFF or JPEG.
Pixel - A term common in computer imaging referring to a picture element.
IEEE 1394 - Also called Firewire or iLink. Originally a serial bus for PCs, 1394 may or may not become the interconnection standard for DTV products. It is competing with DVI. IEEE 1394 is a spec for a hardware interconnect plus a software shell. But additional software, such as HAVi, is required for connected units to actually talk to each other. Some day 1394 may dramatically simplify the way DTV products interconnect.
Driver - A sound-producing device. It is also another word for loudspeaker. The woofer, midrange and tweeter are the "drivers" in a speaker enclosure.
