Spectrum Analyzer - A portion of the display panel of a receiver or shelf system reserved for viewing the relative levels of several bands of audio frequencies.
Component Video Inputs - Component video inputs (Y/Pb/Pr) consist of the luminance signal (Y) and two separate chrominance signals (Pb and Pr). These inputs provide outstanding resolution and colour accuracy for video images. Televisions with component video inputs can accept either progressive or interlaced signals from a variety of sources, including DVD players and digital TV set-top boxes.
Transponder - A satellite channel. There is often one program per transponder. Some transponders are wider than 6 MHz and can carry more than one NTSC program. Several digital channels can fit on one transponder.
Bandwidth - The range of frequencies used to transmit the television signal, including picture and sound. Analog television signals have been allocated at 6 Megahertz for each over-the-air channel. Digital channels are allocated the same 6 Megahertz by Industry Canada. However, by the use of digital compression, a combination of up to 5 SDTV programs and/or one HDTV program can be carried in this 6 MHz digital channel.
WAN - Wireless access network or wide area network
Multicasting - Term given to the sharing of the digital television channel among 2, 3, 4 or more individual programs and/or data services
Handspring - A company which manufactures handheld computers such as the Handspring Visor which use the Palm operating system. Now merged with PalmOne.
