Virtual channel number - This is the channel the consumer thinks he is watching. The actual (physical) channel is selected by a hidden mechanism.
Widescreen - Widescreen is another term for a letterboxed program. Letterboxed programs generally fill the entire screen on a widescreen TV.

OTA - (over the air) - There are about 1500 OTA (terrestrial) TV stations in the U.S.
HDTV - High Definition Television. A term characterizing the highest resolution and performance of digital television. Presently defined as either 720 progressive vertical lines of resolution x 1280 horizontal pixels or 1080 interlaced vertical lines by 1920 horizontal pixels. High Definition programming is now readily available via cable, satellite or over-the-air systems.
RGB - A color model using red, green, and blue; the additive primary colors. Video display systems use RGB data to create screen images.
