Stylus - A pen writing device for the handheld computer. Used with touch-screens to initiate commands with the operating system and also to input data.
Symbian / Symbian Ltd. - A joint venture between Psion, Motorola, Ericsson and Nokia to develop and support the EPOC operating system. Formerly known as Psion Software. Symbian also refers to the operating system used by Nokia and Sony Ericsson in their mobile phones.
Amplifier - A component used to amplify voltage or current. In audio systems, an amplifier is a circuit or component used for strengthening an audio signal.
Comb filter - A circuit in NTSC sets that separates the color information from the brightness information.
Surround Speakers (Surrounds) - The two speakers in a home theatre system that are placed in the rear of the room or to the sides of the primary seating position. They are critical in producing surround sound.
Aspect Ratio - the ratio of image width to image height. The term may apply to the display device configuration, or the shape of the content being displayed. (See Letterboxing) HDTV uses an aspect ratio of 16 units wide by 9 units high. Conventional television programming and displays are at an aspect ratio of 4 - 3. Digital SDTV programs may aspect ratios from 4 - 3 to 16 - 9, dependant on content and its source (e.g. upconverted NTSC is likely to be 4 - 3).
Digital Sound Processor (DSP) - Provides sound field control.
