Computer-to-Plate - A method of applying an image onto an offset printing plate. The image is transferred from a computer directly to the device that exposes the image onto the plate, bypassing the need for separations and film.
COFDM modulation technique. This technical standard has been used in Europe and other places for digital TV. 8VSB is used in the U.S.
Parental Lock - Channels inappropriate for children can be locked out of the tuning program. Access is allowed only by entering a code.
C-band / Ku-band. - 1. a range of RF spectrum. C-band is app. 4 GHz. Ku-band is app. 12 GHz. 2. Geo-stationary satellites the networks use to acquire and distribute programming to affiliates and cable TV companies. These satellites use C-band and Ku-band frequencies. 3. a consumer service that uses the satellites the networks originally set up for themselves. An 8-foot steerable dish is required. Some channels are free. Others are available by subscription. The digital channel subscription service is called 4DTV.
Colour Temperature Control - Allows the user to customize picture and white balance to their own personal taste by using three selectable settings.
V-Chip Program Lockout - This feature allows parents to use television rating codes to block programs that they feel are inappropriate for their children to view. The V-Chip can be turned on and off through the on-screen menu, using a four digit, user-programmed code. Once you choose an appropriate ratings level, the V-Chip reads the ratings codes transmitted with each program, compares it with the level you set and automatically denies access to any programming that exceeds your rating. If a program is denied, a blocking message will appear on screen and the audio will be muted. Activating the V-Chip program lockout also temporarily disables the picture-in-picture function.
