Licensee - A company that has licensed the use of a particular operating system. For instance, Sony is one of the licensees of the Palm operating system.
H format - A 4x7 print. Similar to the motion picture and HDTV screen format.
Vector Image - A computer image that uses mathematical descriptions of paths and fills to define the graphic, as opposed to individual pixels.
PAL - (Phase Altering Line standard) - This alternative to NTSC has 625 lines, interlaced, 50 fields per second. It is used in most of Europe, Asia (except USSR), Africa, and Australia, and parts of South America.
Progressive Scan Doubler - Used to display a full frame of video in 1/60th of a second. Essentially, it de-interlaces the incoming video signal and progressively scans the image. With progressive scanning, you generally won't see the horizontal scan lines that are sometimes visible in ordinary television images.
Composite Video Connection - A method to interconnect video devices (such as a DTV set-top box and the analog television) by sending the signal over a single cable. This method is suitable only for analog NTSC signals
Digitize - The process of sampling analog data and converting (quantizing) the signal into a digital data format usable by a computer.
