BlackBerryT - Handheld device developed by RIMr which focuses on wireless email communications, but can also run other applications.
Reverse 3 - 2 Pull-Down - DTV material originating on film at 24 fps is converted to the 30 fps of DTV by repeating field or frames, resulting in some motion artefacts. Some film presentations remove these repeated images before transmission and send a signal to the television causing it to process (termed Reverse 3 - 2 Pull-Down) this material appropriately to make it suitable for display. In this way, the displayed material closely matches the original film quality, avoiding the motion artefacts.
IX [Information Exchange] - This is the designation for how the camera, film and photofinishing equipment communicate with each other. There are two types of Information Exchange. Optical Information Exchange simply exposes marks on the film in a reserved area. This is used to tell the photofinisher what format of picture you selected (C, H, or P) when the photo was taken. Magnetic Information Exchange has even more information. It can tell the photofinisher about the conditions that the picture was taken so that it can be printed to its best. It can also record greetings and information (date, time, name of event, etc.) which can be printed on the back (see Backprinting).
PDA - personal digital assistant. A generic term which could apply to Pocket PCs with Windows CE or Palm OS devices.
HDTV - (High Definition TV) - A TV that displays 1280x720 pixels or better.
Disc Navigation - Provides immediate access to recorded scenes in a DVD Camcorder when the appropriate thumbnail image is selected on the camcorder's LCD panel. Eliminates the time consuming task of fast-forwarding and rewinding associated with videotape based formats. Disc Navigation also features a wide variety of in-camera editing options such as instant delete and play list construction.
APS-sized film sensors - Short for Advanced Photo System, APS film comes in a cassette that automatically advances to the first frame when you close the back of the camera. At the end of the roll, the camera rewinds the film back into the cassette and closes the film cover. Most digital SLRs use image sensors that are the size of a frame of APS film, rather than 35mm film. Higher-end SLRs use full 35mm-sized sensors.
