Metadata - Informational data about the data, included in a signal's data stream.
Automatic Exposure (AE) - Selects the fastest shutter speed for your camera according to the amount of light available.
DLP (Digital Light Processing) - A technique in which the displayed image is produced by an array of dynamic micro-mirrors formed on a chip, each reflecting some of the light source to form a pixel on the screen. Each micro-mirror controls the level of the light sent to the screen for its pixel. Resolution is set by the size of the mirror array and versions suitable for wide-screen HDTV are now in production for uses in both front and rear projection televisions.
Data - The numbers that make up a digital file.
Anti-Aliasing - A technique used to smooth the transition between adjacent image areas. The removal or softening of jagged (aliased) edges by averaging or blending techniques.
Surround Sound (home theatre) - Surround sound is the basis of a home theatre. It is created by a surround sound processor, multi-channel amplification and five or six speakers. Surround sound envelopes the viewer/listener with sound, includes special effects and simulates the ambience of the environments shown on the TV.
Dolby Pro Logic Surround. This is a 4-channel analog system. During recording, the 4 channels are "folded" into 2 stereo channels. If played back without a Pro Logic decoder, it sounds like normal stereo. This format is becoming obsolete.
