Hi-Fi Color - An alternative printing process that extends the capabilities of printing presses. This system uses stochastic screening, 6-color printing, and other techniques to expand the possible color gamut well beyond that of traditional 4-color processes.
FlashPix - An image file format developed and supported by Eastman Kodak Co., Microsoft Corp., Hewlett-Packard, Live Picture and other companies. The format uses FITS see FITS) technology to facilitate the transmission and manipulation of large image files.
Automatic Advanced Film Enhancement - When film is transferred to video, the process can combine information from two very different film frames into a single mixed video frame, causing motion blurring and jittery sequences. Part of Hitachi's VirtualHDT digital video processor, 3:2 Pulldown Correction ensures that new video frames are only constructed from discrete film frames for a smooth, seamless picture.
Downconvert - The process which reduces the number of pixels in the scanning format used to represent an image, so that it may be reproduced on a display of lower resolution, such as a conventional television. For example, an HDTV image may be downconverted to an SDTV or NTSC image, but in the conversion significant detail information may be lost.
Color temperature - This describes how white is displayed. Low temperature means slightly reddish, while high temperature means slightly bluish. Standard NTSC white corresponds to the color a glowing hot object would be at 6500ø K
Compression - The process of reducing the size of a data file, usually accomplished through software processing. This is used to reduce the required storage space or cut transmission times.
SCSI Port - The connection used by SCSI devices to connect to the CPU. Often SCSI devices are used in a series called a "Scuzzie Chain."
