Panoramic - A camera format which crops the top and bottom of the negative resulting in a long skinny photograph, with an illusion of vista.
DTS - Digital Theatre Sound System. A Dolby proprietary discrete 5.1 channel surround system similar to, but not the same as Dolby Digital AC-3, the DTV standard. DTS is used in cinema presentations and in DVD's.
Precision Notch - Filter Acts at 3.58 MHz to separate the colour information from the light channel. TV models with a precision notch filter can achieve 330 lines of horizontal resolution from a RF antenna source.
Matrix Surround Sound - A two-channel surround sound system that sends a simulated surround sound signal to the rear speakers.
AV Control Center - This component contains the TV tuners and input switching for Hitachi's two-piece Plasma televisions. A single cable connects the AV Control Center to the display, thus eliminating wire clutter and the need for noisy internal cooling fans. In addition, because the pickup for the remote control is located in the display, the AV Control Center and all other home theater components can be placed out of sight - even behind closed doors.
Auto Program Tuning - This feature will automatically store 30 preset stations in a TV's or VCR's memory.
BPS (Bits Per Second) - A measurement of the speed of data transfer, used interchangeably with the term baud per second. In many image editing programs, this is the term describing a special effects filter that performs a specific function, such smoothing selective edges. In some cases, the image editing programs present the brushes as an icon that actually looks like a brush.
