Dithering - A process used by some output devices to simulate shades of gray or color variations with a randomizing technique that uses varying sizes and shapes of pixel groupings instead of an ordered array of halftone dotes.
Field Dynamic Focus - Feature exclusive to CRT rear projection models that utilize a Hybrid Wide Neck CRT design. Dynamically maintains the shape and focus of the electron beam spot for increased sharpness in the edges and corners of the screen as well as the center.
Digital Comb Filter - Converts chroma (colour) and luminance (detail, black and white) information into digital code and eliminates video noise. The end result is improved picture quality and colour purity without dot crawl. Dot crawl occurs when edges of the picture move and appear wavy or shaky.
117-Point Manual Convergence - Hitachi feature that allows the user to manually access 117 points of convergence (the most available in the industry). Used together with the automated Magic Focus system, the manual option guarantees optimal image sharpness and color purity.
EDTV - (enhanced definition TV) - Essentially DVD quality, it is a small step up from NTSC. An EDTV will convert all 18 ATSC formats to 480p.
