PIM - personal information management. Refers to handheld computer applications that organize personal information such as calendar, to do lists, memos.
D-ILA - (Direct-drive Image Light Amplifier) (see LCOS)
Matrix Surround Sound - A two-channel surround sound system that sends a simulated surround sound signal to the rear speakers.
LCD - (Liquid Crystal Display) - A common display technology. LCD is likely to replace CRTs in the smallest HDTV's.
Letterbox - Letterbox refers to the image of a wide-screen picture on a standard 4:3 aspect ratio television screen, typically with black bars above and below. It is used to maintain the original aspect ratio of the original source (usually a theatrical motion picture of 16:9 aspect ratio or wider).
Sync - To synchronize the data between a handheld device and a laptop or desktop computer. See also HotSync.
Point & Shoot cameras - With these cameras you are looking through a separate window (viewfinder) instead of through the lens. These cameras are less expensive, smaller and easier to carry. The disadvantages are under-powered flash, increased red-eye problems and limited flexibility to add other lenses, flashes, etc.
