CDTV - Canadian Digital Television, a not-for-profit, government-approved body, with members from all sectors of the TV industry. CDTV is mandated to advise its members, Industry Canada and the CRTC on the roll out of DTV in Canada.
APS-sized film sensors - Short for Advanced Photo System, APS film comes in a cassette that automatically advances to the first frame when you close the back of the camera. At the end of the roll, the camera rewinds the film back into the cassette and closes the film cover. Most digital SLRs use image sensors that are the size of a frame of APS film, rather than 35mm film. Higher-end SLRs use full 35mm-sized sensors.
NTSC - (National Television System Committee technical standard) - This is analog TV invented in 1946. NTSC has 525 lines (483 visible) interlaced, 60 fields per second. This standard is in use in North America, Japan, South Korea, Burma, Taiwan, the Philippines, and much of South America.
MIC Mixing - Connects a microphone to the MIC input so you can sing along with the cassette, CD or radio station.
Comb Filter, 3D Y/C - The 3D Y/C digital comb filter performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the colour from the black and white information. The filter removes dot crawl and hanging dots, both horizontally and vertically.
EPOC - The operating system of the Symbian platform, which works best with low-power, compact machines and long-running applications. It was developed and licensed by Symbian. See Symbian.
