Cyan - One of the three subtractive primary colors. Produced by mixing equal amounts of blue and green projected light. Cyan is also one of the four colors used in 4-color printing.
Megapixel - A measure of resolution that reflects the ability of a digital camera to record detail. The more megapixels a camera has, the more detail its images can contain and the more they can be enlarged without losing clarity. More megapixels aren't always necessary, however. Auto Clock Set - Automatically sets the VCR clock when tuned to a station which transmits time information with their broadcast signal. Automatically determines time zone differences and Daylight Savings Time settings.
DBS (direct broadcast satellites) - These satellites are powerful enough to be received by an 18 inch dish. They use Ku-band frequencies. Companies that provide DBS services to consumers in the U.S. are DirecTV and Dish Network. Canadian DBS providers are Star Choice and Bell ExpressVu. Also called DSS.
Picture-outside-Picture (PoP) - The dual-tuner design enables images from two sources to be displayed on 16:9 sets simultaneously. Instead of obscuring the main picture by superimposing it as an inset, it uses the extra picture area of the widescreen format to display it alongside the main image. Select models offer a Dual Viewer Split Screen feature that will display two equal-size pictures side-by-side from different channels simultaneously. Hitachi HDTV monitors will also display both standard definition and HD programs simultaneously.
Macro Focus - Permits the camcorder to move within inches of the subject for extreme close-ups.
117-Point Manual Convergence - Hitachi feature that allows the user to manually access 117 points of convergence (the most available in the industry). Used together with the automated Magic Focus system, the manual option guarantees optimal image sharpness and color purity.
