Redeye - Redeye is the term used to describe the red color often visible people's eyes when a picture is taken with a flash. Redeye is caused by the reflection of the flash off the subjects' eyes -- a problem that is compounded when the flash is positioned close to the lens, as it is on many small cameras.
NTSC - National Television Systems Committee. The organisation that created the standards for production and broadcasting of analog color television programming in Canada and the United States. The term is widely used to mean a composite analog television signal.
Chasing Playback™ (Panasonic) - Users can begin watching a program, even while it is still recording that same program.
Fresnel Screen (projection TV) - Helps balance out the light of the image across the screen. Without this screen, there would only be a centre screen bright spot. This screen receives the initial light image from the mirror and is made up of grooves, not unlike the grooves on an original LP record, in a circular pattern.
Clipping Distortion - With the clipping distortion feature, the peaks of the output wave are "clipped" off, avoiding distortion that results from driving an amplifier beyond its limit.
Spectrophotometer - Device used to measure the quality and accuracy of a color monitor and the film or paper output.
Datacasting - The inclusion of additional data in the broadcasting stream. Such data may be related to the current program (e.g. sports statistics) or may be completely independent (e.g. software downloading or traffic advisories).
